Roger

Privacy Policy · Effective August 27, 2026

Roger is a Morse code copy-practice app. This page explains, plainly, what it collects, why, and what it never touches.

The short version

Roger is built and run by one person — a ham radio operator, not a company. It is free, has no ads, and never sells or shares your information for advertising. Everything below exists to run the app itself: keeping your practice progress, letting you get it back if you switch devices, and showing you your own stats.

What Roger collects

Most of what Roger stores about you, you never had to type in.

If you choose to "sign up" in Settings, Roger additionally asks for:

If you use the feedback form in Settings, the message you write is sent to the operator's inbox, along with your handle and email if you have one on file (so a reply is possible) — anonymous feedback works too.

What Roger never touches

Location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, filesNever requested
Advertising or analytics SDKs of any kindNone in the app
Selling or sharing data for advertisingNever
PasswordsNone — recovery uses a one-time emailed code

The Android app requests exactly two permissions: internet access and network state — both needed just to talk to Roger's own server. That's the entire list.

Where it lives, and who else sees it

Your data is stored in Turso (a hosted database) behind a Cloudflare Worker that only Roger's own app talks to. The one outside service involved is Resend, used solely to deliver the emails described above (recovery codes, certificates, feedback) — your email address and, for feedback, its message text pass through Resend for that purpose only.

Your IP address is used briefly to limit how many recovery-code guesses or feedback submissions can come from one source in a short window — a simple counter that resets on its own, not a stored history of your activity.
